Aquabox for the Rotary Club of Thame
Another box has been filled and sent to the Rotary Club is Wirksworth from where it will be shipped overseas to people in great need without clean water.
Thank you to the very generous people of Chinnor who helped fill the box with baby clothes, nappies, toilet rolls, soap, candles, tin opener, matches, bucket, cups and many other useful items.
The box itself converts to a water tank with a tap, lid and water purification tablets and strong, plastic survival bags are included.
Rotarian Val Welford

Hello from Amarillo Texas:

Nearly 50 years ago (I can hardly believe it has been that long), I was visiting Chinnor with my then, girl friend, Janet Green of High Wycombe. We were visiting her friend, Dorothy and family (The Rumbelows' in Lime Grove).

That afternoon, after a pint at the Black Boy, Mr. Rumbelow, took me around your beautiful village. We went for a walk up the hill into the woods, where we came across an elderly couple who lived in a small cottage. The man was working on a wood carving, outside. I remember him telling me, quite seriously, that he was "The Greatest Woodcarver In The World".  Looking at his finished carvings, I couldn't agree with him more; they were absolutely beautiful!

You may wonder, how I can remember an incident that happened so long ago? On that day, I had my 8mm Cine Camera with me and took a color (colour) film of this woodcarver and his wife.

Over the years, whenever we come across Chinnor, in our home movies, we have wondered who that woodcarver was.  We thought maybe someone would know his name, or might recollect something of him; if anyone does, we sure would appreciate hearing from you.

Thank you,

Don and Janet Terrill, Amarillo Texas
